3rd Phase-Employed with a fresh start

Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas is a 12 month program.  In the first phase, students acclimate to campus life, learn fundamentals of Christian faith, and develop a work ethic.  In the second phase, students develop life skills and mature in their Christian faith.  In the final third phase of the program, students gain employment and develop a strategy for transition back into the community. This last phase of the program also provides Christian discipleship classes, counseling, and essential educational tools, such as Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University materials, which teaches men and women how to create and live by a budget.  The transitional living facilities for the third phase include a men’s campus in Brenham, and women’s campuses in San Antonio and Houston.

Our Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas staff and leaders are doing an amazing job at our transitional living facilities to help our students in their last phase.  Once the students complete the third phase of the program, they are invited back to their original campus for a celebration and graduation ceremony.  Often, directors and staff from other campuses will drop by the third phase transitional living campuses to lift-up, pray for, and encourage the students.

San Antonio Men’s Director, Floyd Miles, III went to visit his San Antonio students who recently entered into the third phase at the Brenham men’s transitional living campus.  Miles said, “I spent the day at the Brenham campus.  I went there to encourage and check up on the San Antonio guys.  All of the guys are gainfully employed and attending their home church.  We have about 22 students from the San Antonio campus.  We praise the Lord for these changed lives.”

3 generations played in the San Antonio Golf Tournament

Seth Porters familyOn September 28th, the San Antonio campus held their annual Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas Golf Tournament.  It was a beautiful day on the golf course.  For one of the students and his family this tournament was more than just a game of golf.  They were celebrating a miracle that God had done in one man’s life.  From shooting heroine to playing a game of golf, Seth and his father, grandmother, and great-uncle, and sister came to play at the San Antonio golf tournament this week.  The days of addiction are over.  Today Seth is a new creation in Christ and set free from drugs.  Three generations from his family came to celebrate what God is doing in Seth’s life and to play in the tournament to support the program that has changed Seth’s life.

“Hello, my name is Seth.  In the weakest moment of my life, God’s love and power became a reality when He saved me from my addiction.  Since coming to Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas and truly submitting to God’s will, He has given me a peace and joy over my life that I have never experienced.  I do not ever want to let go of this joy,” said ATCOT student Seth.

Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas would like to say “thank you” to everyone who was a sponsor and who participated in this tournament.  We appreciate you.
