The BIG GIVE SA was a success. Save the date for next year’s Big Give on May 3, 2016

May 5th was an unprecedented day of giving for South Central Texas.  A tremendous impact was made in the San Antonio community with people coming together to provide money to more nonprofits in one 24 hour period than at any other point in South Central Texas’ history!  Over $4,303,500 was raised for multiple not-for-profits in the San Antonio area.  Last year  over 467 Bexar County not-for-profit organizations participated in the Big Give.

Save the date on your calendar for May 3rd, 2016 for San Antonio’s next Big Give challenge!

Learn more about the Big Give below:

The purpose of this community-wide giving challenge is to increase public awareness of the impact local nonprofits make in addressing our community’s social challenges, bring nonprofits and donors together, expand the idea of online giving, connect people to the causes that move them the most and, of course, make giving FUN. By turning giving into a shared city-wide experience, we can significantly impact the future of San Antonio and collectively move our city forward. The Big Give S.A. is part of the national day of giving called Give Local America. Communities across the country are coming together on one day.  Next year’s Big Give is on May 3rd, 2016.

The goals of The Big Give S.A. are to:

  • INVEST strategically in Bexar County nonprofits
  • DRIVE our community forward through collective impact
  • LEVERAGE giving with matching funds and prize incentives

The San Antonio campus at Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas participates in this event. Each participating nonprofit, including Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas, is eligible for matching funds and prize incentives. Please help us raise matching funds by donating to Adult & Teen Challenge this next year through the Big Give S.A. on May 3rd, 2016.

How do individuals participate? On May 3rd, 2016, anyone can make an online gift to a participating organization. All donations on May 3rd, 2016 give your favorite nonprofit the opportunity to earn matching funds and prize incentives. This means that your gift has the capacity to leverage additional funding. You can give by phone, tablet, or computer. Minimum donation is $10. There is not a maximum donation.

For up-to-date information on the event and how you can get involved, follow the Big Give S.A. on Facebook and Twitter @BigGiveSA For any other questions, please contact 210.229.0333 or thebiggivesa@gmail.com

Brenham Campus Held a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on May 1st

Brenham Ribbon CuttingAs the city of Brenham was getting ready to launch their annual May Fest on Friday evening, May 1st, the Adult and Teen Challenge of Brenham began the festivities early on May 1st when they hosted an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony that morning on their campus at 1306 N. Park St. in Brenham.  Many members from the Brenham Chamber of Commerce and people in the community participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony.  Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas president, George Thomas, shared the vision of Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas and talked about the men’s third phase re-entry program in Brenham.  It was a great opportunity for the community to get to know Adult & Teen Challenge of Brenham.

After the ribbon cutting, there were fun activities and games for the whole family including: a bounce house, face-painting, and several children’s games.  There was also live music from volunteers in the community and from some of our Teen Challenge students.  It was a beautiful sunny day and everyone had a wonderful time.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to our proud supporter, Bush’s Chicken, for providing free chicken sandwiches the entire afternoon during this event. Also, thank you to all of the volunteers who helped  with the games and other activities.

Adult and Teen Challenge of Texas is a one year residential program providing youth, adults, and families with a comprehensive Christian faith-based solution to life-controlling addictions in order to become productive members of society.  The Adult & Teen Challenge of Brenham is under the umbrella of Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas, and is a transitional living facility serving adult men during their last 5 months of the final 3rd phase re-entry program.  The re-entry program aims to transition students back into society by assisting them in securing employment, learning and mastering responsible consumer budgeting skills, and further developing biblically based qualities, all of which are essential for maintaining sobriety and becoming the individual that God has called them to be.
